About Rep. Edwards
A small business owner who grew up in our community, Rep. David Edwards has a long history of community leadership. He now continues his fight for working families in Salem following his recent election to the Oregon State House.
Sworn into office January 8, 2007, David is focused on expanding opportunity for all Oregonians. His chief aims are to bring more good-paying jobs to Washington County; to ensure quality public schools; to reduce the cost of and improve access to health care; and to make state government more accountable and innovative.
David serves on the important Joint Ways & Means Committee responsible for evaluating and approving the budgets of all state agencies and associated programs. He also serves on two Ways & Means subcommittees-Education and Transportation & Economic Development-assignments that reflect his major policy interests.
David was raised in the Hillsboro area. His late-father was a Division I basketball coach at Portland State University and later, at West Texas A & M. His mother, Judy Rusaw, has been the head swim coach at his alma mater Hillsboro High School for 21 years. David holds bachelor's and master's degrees in English Literature from the University of Southern California and a second master's degree in Public Affairs from the University of Oregon.
David lives in Hillsboro with his high school sweetheart and wife, along with their two creative and energetic boys.
